ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Check
theconditionofthediggingteeth
andreplaceanythatarewornor
damaged.
Duetothehighamountofwearplacedonthedigging
teeth,youwillneedtoreplacethemperiodically.
Toreplaceasingletooth,removetheboltssecuring
thetoothtoremoveit,theninstallanewtoothinthe
sameposition.T orquetheboltssecuringtheteethto
37to45N∙m(27to33ft-lb).
CheckingandAdjustingthe
DiggingChainandBoom
ServiceInterval:Every25hours
•Checkeachlinkinthechainforexcessivewear,
suchaslinksthatcannolongerholdteeth.
•Inspectthebottomoftheboomforwear.
•Withthetrencherparalleltotheground,ensure
thatthereare3.8to6.3cm(1-1/2to2-1/2inches)
betweenthebottomoftheboomandthetopofthe
bottomchainspan.Ifnot,adjustthechaintension.
Important:Donotovertightenthechain.
Excessivechaintensionmaydamagedrive
components.
Toreplaceawornchain,iporreplaceaworn
boom,oradjustthechaintension,usethefollowing
procedure:
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,engagethe
parkingbrake,andlowerthehydrauliclift.
2.Shutofftheengineandremovethekey.
3.Ifyouarereplacingthechainorippingor
replacingtheboom,completethefollowing:
A.Removethe2boltsandnutssecuringthe
boomtothetrencherarm.

removethechainfromtheboom.

securetheboom.
H.Ifyouareinstallinganewchain,connect
thelinksbypressingorhammeringthe
clevispinsuppliedwiththechainthrough
thelinks,thensecuretheclevispinwiththe
cotterpinsuppliedwiththechain.
Important:Toavoidbendingthechain
links,placeblocksunderandbetween
thelinkswhenhammeringtheclevispin
through.
I.Installthechainoverthedrivesprocketand
frontroller.
J.Ifyouremovedthespoilsauger,install
itusingtheboltandnutyouremoved
previously.T orquetheboltandnutto102
N∙m(75ft-lb).
K.Skiptostep6tocompletetheadjustment.
4.Loosenthe2boltsandnutssecuringtheboom
tothetrencherarm
5.Loosenthejamnutsecuringtheadjustmentbolt.
6.Turntheadjustmentboltinoroutasneededto
achievethedesiredtension.
