Explanation
The following symptoms may occur for originals whose images are only located near the edges.
• A color original may be judged as a black-and-white one because of the Auto Color mode.
• Since those originals are judged as blank pages, they will be removed when “Omit Blank Page” is
enabled.
These symptoms have occurred since the images are located outside of the judgment image area of
each function. Therefore, perform the adjustment so that they will be included in the judgment area.
Procedures
The service technician must perform the adjustments.
(1) Select [05 ADJUSTMENT MODE] and change the setting value for the code [7616] to adjust the
image area to be used for the judgment for the Omit Blank Page and Auto Color modes.
When a smaller value is set, the void amount is decreased and thus the image area to be used for
the judgment is increased.
• The setting value of 24 steps correspond to 1 mm of the image area.
Caution after the adjustment
If a much too small value is set, a misjudgment may be caused by the scanning edge shadows of the
originals. Therefore, perform the adjustment while checking the judgment result of each function.
