4 Replacement Procedures
4.1 General
CAUTION: The case and parts of this machine are delicate (thin) because this machine
is lighter than a usual machine. Handle with care of installing/removing.
This section explains how to disassemble the computer and replace Field Replaceable Units
(FRUs). It may not be necessary to remove all the FRUs in order to replace one. The chart
below is a guide to which FRUs need to be removed in order to remove others. The numbers
in the chart indicate the relevant section numbers in this manual.
In all cases when removing the FRU, the battery pack must also be removed. When repairing
the FRU that is the potential cause of a computer fault, use the chart to determine the order in
which FRUs need to be removed.
Refer to the example of the chart described below.
This chart shows which
unit(s) you need to
remove in advance when
you replace one unit.
Example: When you
want to replace “4.7 PC
card slot”, you need to
remove all FRUs down to
the “4.2 Battery pack” to
“4.6 Base cover
assembly” must be
removed.
