  If your Trane Thermostat isn't cooling, it could be due to a few reasons. First, the system mode might not be set to Cool or Auto, or the setpoint is too high. Try setting the mode to cool and lowering the setpoint below the room temperature. Second, a minimum off time delay might be in effect; wait five minutes and recheck the cooling equipment. Finally, the cooling system itself may require service; in that case, check/repair the system.

  If your Trane Thermostat isn't heating, it could be because the system mode is not set to Heat or Auto, or the setpoint is set too low. Set the mode to heat and raise the setpoint above the room temperature. Another reason could be that the minimum off time delay is being enforced. Wait for five minutes and recheck the heating equipment. It's also possible that the heating system may require service, so check/repair the system.

  If your heat pump is not turning on and only the furnace or electric heat strips are running, it could be because the outdoor temperature is below the compressor lockout temperature setting. Adjust the compressor lockout temperature setting if desired. Another possibility is that the system mode is set to Emergency Heat. Finally, the outdoor unit may require service.

Remove the control from the sub base and reset it, then follow the calibration instructions when the control reboots. Alternatively, there could be an internal control fault. Try resetting or cycling power to the control by removing it from the subbase, waiting 10 seconds, and replacing it.

  If the display will not come on, it may be due to a loss of 24VAC between R & B at the Control. Check the R & B wiring. Check the transformer for 24VAC output. Also, check for a broken or shorted thermostat wire.
