Why is my Trane TCONT824 not cooling?
    • C
      Casey MurrayAug 16, 2025
If your Trane Thermostat isn't cooling, it could be due to a few reasons. First, the system mode might not be set to Cool or Auto, or the setpoint is too high. Try setting the mode to cool and lowering the setpoint below the room temperature. Second, a minimum off time delay might be in effect; wait five minutes and recheck the cooling equipment. Finally, the cooling system itself may require service; in that case, check/repair the system.

Why is my Trane TCONT824 Thermostat not heating?
    • M
      Melissa MccormickAug 18, 2025
If your Trane Thermostat isn't heating, it could be because the system mode is not set to Heat or Auto, or the setpoint is set too low. Set the mode to heat and raise the setpoint above the room temperature. Another reason could be that the minimum off time delay is being enforced. Wait for five minutes and recheck the heating equipment. It's also possible that the heating system may require service, so check/repair the system.

Why is my Trane TCONT824 heat pump not turning on?
    • S
      Sarah HollowayAug 22, 2025
If your heat pump is not turning on and only the furnace or electric heat strips are running, it could be because the outdoor temperature is below the compressor lockout temperature setting. Adjust the compressor lockout temperature setting if desired. Another possibility is that the system mode is set to Emergency Heat. Finally, the outdoor unit may require service.

What to do if my Trane Thermostat screen is not responding?
    • D
      Darin DavisAug 25, 2025
If your Trane Thermostat screen isn't responding properly to a button press, it could be that the screen is out of calibration. Remove the control from the sub base and reset it, then follow the calibration instructions when the control reboots. Alternatively, there could be an internal control fault. Try resetting or cycling power to the control by removing it from the subbase, waiting 10 seconds, and replacing it.

Why Trane TCONT824 display will not come on?
    • M
      michaelrojasAug 30, 2025
If the display will not come on, it may be due to a loss of 24VAC between R & B at the Control. Check the R & B wiring. Check the transformer for 24VAC output. Also, check for a broken or shorted thermostat wire.

What to do if Trane TCONT824 Thermostat displays heating or cooling but no air is coming out?
    • S
      susan33Sep 2, 2025
If your Trane Thermostat displays heating or cooling, but no warm or cool air is coming from the registers, there might be a fan delay as the heating or cooling equipment turns on. Wait a minute for blower delays and recheck registers. If that's not the case, the equipment may not be working properly; check/repair the system.

How to fix temperature swings on Trane Thermostat?
    • L
      Lisa JohnsonSep 6, 2025
If your Trane Thermostat is experiencing cooling or heating cycles that are too fast or too slow, resulting in narrow or wide temperature swings, check the location of the control for drafts. Seal any air leaks behind the control, relocate it, or apply a remote indoor temperature sensor. Also, the cycles per hour setting might be improperly set; adjust cycle rates in the Advanced Installer Setup.

How to fix incorrect indoor temperature display on Trane Thermostat?
    • J
      Jennifer HowardSep 9, 2025
If your Trane Thermostat's indoor temperature display is incorrect, it could be that the indoor temperature display needs calibration. Calibrate the temperature sensor from Sensor Settings or use a remote temperature sensor. Another cause might be heat from the touch screen being trapped within the thermostat body. Move the control away from any competing air streams or use a remote indoor sensor.

What to do if my Trane Thermostat fan is on but not running?
    • J
      Jessica MillerSep 12, 2025
If your fan is set to ON but not running, humidity control might be engaged. If the indoor humidity is higher than the desired setpoint, the blower will cycle off with the equipment. A humidity icon will be displayed on the Fan Mode button when the blower operation is being inhibited due to high humidity. There could also be a field wiring issue, so check the field wiring. Finally, the blower motor might not be functioning; check/repair the system.
