Overview

This document is the original instruction manual for the Trotec TGP 1005 E garden pump.

Function Description

The TGP 1005 E is a garden pump designed for pumping clear service water in homes and gardens. It can draw clear water from wells, rain barrels, or cisterns from a depth of up to 7 meters and pump it to a height of up to 42 meters. The device is suitable for various applications, including watering gardens and vegetable beds, operating lawn sprinklers, and providing service water supply in the home and garden.

The pump is not designed for continuous operation (e.g., as a recirculation pump for ponds) and is not suitable for increasing the pressure of existing water supply networks or for pumping potable water. It should not be used with aggressive, abrasive, caustic, corrosive, combustible, or explosive pumping media such as brine, sandy water, food, cleaning agents, fuels (petrol, diesel), oils, greases, petroleum, nitro-cellulose thinner, or wastewater from lavatories and urinal installations. The water temperature for pumping must not exceed 35 °C.

Usage Features

Assembly and Installation: The device comes with a pre-installed filter and a wrench for the water filler neck/prefilter. For permanent installation, the device has feet with drill holes allowing it to be bolted to the ground.

Connecting Pipe or Hose Line: The device can be operated with either a hose line or a pipe, delivered with a 1" internal thread. For suction lines, a vacuum-tight hose is recommended. For pressure lines, pressure-resistant hoses should be used. The diameter of the pressure and suction lines should correspond to or exceed the size of the connections to minimize pressure loss and maximize flow rate.

Filling the Device with Water: Before operation, the device must be filled with the pumping medium all the way to the edge via the water filler neck (3). The connected suction line should also be completely filled. The screw plug at the water filler neck must be securely tightened.

Bleeding the Pressure Line: To bleed the pressure line, all connected consumers must be opened. The device is then switched on, and operation continues until water flows out of the consumers.

Operation: The device is switched on by setting the on/off switch (1) to position I. After switch-on, the device's operation should be regularly checked for unusual behavior (e.g., strong vibrations, fluctuating flow rate). If left unattended for a longer period, the power supply should be interrupted.

Shutdown: To shut down, the device is switched off (position 0), the mains plug is disconnected, and the lowest-level consumer is opened to release pressure from the pressure line. The screw plug at the water drain nozzle (5) should be opened to drain residual water from the pressure line and the device's interior.

Safety Features:

  • Thermal Protection Circuit: The device is equipped with a thermal protection circuit that activates and switches off the device if it overheats.
  • Safety Signs and Labels: The device has various safety signs and labels, including warnings for electrical voltage, prohibition of pulling the mains plug by the power cable, prohibition of staying in water, and indication of sound power level.

Maintenance Features

General Maintenance: The device should be cleaned with a soft, damp, lint-free cloth. Electrical components must be protected from moisture. Aggressive cleaning agents should not be used. The inside of the device should be rinsed with clear, lukewarm water.

Prefilter Cleaning: The prefilter (11) must be cleaned when contaminated, indicated by reduced pump capacity. To clean, loosen and unscrew the screw plug at the water filler neck (3) using the wrench, remove the prefilter, clean it with soapsuds, rinse with clear water, tap it against a flat surface, and allow it to dry before reinserting and reattaching the screw plug.

Storage: When not in use, the device should be stored dry, protected from frost and heat, in an upright position, and protected from dust and direct sunlight. Any residual water must be drained via the water drain nozzle (5) to prevent rust formation. Protective caps should be placed on the pressure and suction connections to protect the interior from dust and dirt. For extended storage, the device should be thoroughly cleaned after its last use.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a list of common errors and faults (e.g., device not starting, running but not sucking water, insufficient conveying capacity) along with corresponding checks and solutions. If problems persist, contact customer service.
