Kickback. When working with metal blades, a
kickback of the whole machine or a sudden pull
forwards may occur if fixed objects (trees,
branches, stones or the like) are hit. Such a
kickback occurs abruptly without advance
warning and may result in loss of control of the
machine and hazards to the operator and bystanders. There is a
particular hazard in badly visible and overgrown areas.
To keep the control in case of kickback:
Firmly hold the machine with both hands when working.
Make sure that you have a safe stand. Keep your feet
conveniently spread and always be alert to a possible
kickback.
Always turn the engine off prior to any
adjustment or maintenance of the machine.
The same applies to any works on the mowing
head.
