Instrument Operation
This chapter describes the basic operation of the Condensation Particle
Counter (CPC).
Operat i n g Precau t i o ns
Read the following before applying power to the CPC:
Do not operate the CPC outside the temperature range of 10 to 35°C
(50 to 95°F), humidity range of 0 to 90% RH (noncondensing), and
pressure range of 75 to 105 kPa (0.75 to 1.05 atm). If the CPC is
operated outside this range, the displayed concentration may be
inaccurate or damage may occur.
If the CPC reservoir contains butanol, be careful when moving the
CPC. Refer to “Moving and Shipping the CPC for more details.
W A R N I N G
Although the CPC is appropriate for monitoring inert process gases such
as nitrogen or argon, it should not be used with hazardous gases such
as hydrogen or oxygen. Using the CPC with hazardous gases may
cause injury to personnel and damage to equipment.
The CPC should not sample gas at excessively high or low pressures.
Suggested operating condition is within 5kPa of atmospheric pressure.
User Int e r face
Instrument functions are accessed on the display using the touch screen.
The user interface includes four screens: Main, Settings, Status and Data
Management.
