4-4 Model 3750 Condensation Particle Counter
C a u t i o n
In order to avoid butanol spilling out of the instrument as filling takes
place, make sure the CPC is not operated with the reservoir cover plate
removed.
Drain
The Drain toggle enables or disables the drain function, which is used to
drain butanol from the liquid reservoir such as for shipping or moving the
instrument. For specific instructions on draining butanol, refer to “Draining
Butanol from the Reservoir” in Chapter 4.
Note: During draining, the Auto Fill and Flow are automatically disabled.
When draining is stopped, Flow and Auto Fill must be manually re-enabled.
The Drain setting is always disabled on power up.
Water Removal
The Water Removal toggle enables or disables the Water Removal
system. When the aerosol sample has a dew point above the CPC
condenser temperature, water vapor may condense on the walls of the
condenser and run back into the saturator, contaminating the butanol
supply over time. Butanol contaminated with water can change the lower
counting limit of the CPC. The CPC is able to remove this condensed
water vapor and butanol, significantly reducing contamination. However,
the water removal process increases the butanol consumption.
Note: The Water Removal setting is retained after a power cycle.
Totalizer
The Totalizer toggle enables or disables the display of total counts on the
Main screen along with Average Concentration and Elapsed Time. The
counts that are displayed are the total for the current logging period.
Note: The Totalizer setting is retained after a power cycle.
Date/Time
