Overview

This document is an Operation & Maintenance Manual for UniCarriers Electric Forklift Trucks, specifically the FRSB14-8, FRSB16-8, FRSB20-8, and FRSB25-8 reach type models. It provides comprehensive information on safe operation, maintenance, and technical specifications.

Function Description:

The UniCarriers Electric Forklift Truck is designed for carrying and stacking palletized loads or materials within prescribed stack height limits. It is a reach-type forklift, meaning it has a mast assembly that travels back and forth along outriggers, allowing for compact operation and efficient loading/unloading by extending the mast forward. The truck is primarily intended for special applications in warehousing and in-plant assignments. It is not designed for use on public roads due to its compact nature and sharp turning radius, which can impede other vehicles and pedestrians. The FRSB14-25 series trucks are not designed to prevent explosions and should not be used in the presence of flammable gas. The electric and electronic control systems can be affected by strong electromagnetic fields, so operation in such environments is not advisable.

  • Lifting Speed (without load): 580 mm/s (FRSB14-8, FRSB16-8) and 480 mm/s (FRSB20-8, FRSB25-8).
  • Lifting Speed (with load): 340 mm/s (FRSB14-8), 305 mm/s (FRSB16-8), and 280 mm/s (FRSB20-8, FRSB25-8).
  • Traveling Speed (without load) (S mode): 10.0 km/h (FRSB14-8, FRSB16-8) and 11.0 km/h (FRSB20-8, FRSB25-8).
  • Traveling Speed (with load) (S mode): 9.0 km/h (FRSB14-8, FRSB16-8) and 9.5 km/h (FRSB20-8, FRSB25-8).
  • Min. Turning Radius (most outside of body) (D): Ranges from 1710 mm (FRSB14-8) to 1930 mm (FRSB25-8).
  • Overall Length (E): Ranges from 2330 mm (FRSB14-8) to 2440 mm (FRSB25-8).
  • Overall Width (J): 1270 mm (FRSB14-8, FRSB16-8) and 1348 mm (FRSB20-8, FRSB25-8).
  • Overall Height (overhead guard) (G): 2180 mm (FRSB14-8, FRSB16-8) and 2245 mm (FRSB20-8, FRSB25-8).
  • Truck Weight (with battery): Ranges from 3100 kg (FRSB14-8) to 3865 kg (FRSB25-8).
  • Battery (option): DIN43531C type, 48V, with capacities ranging from 420-465 Ah/5h to 700-775 Ah/5h depending on the model and whether it's a high-capacity battery.
  • Tires: Urethane for both trailing and drive wheels, with varying dimensions.

Usage Features:

  • Operator’s Compartment: Features a steering wheel, keypad, instrument panel, key switch, load handling levers (lift, reach, tilt, side-shift), foot switch, brake pedal, accelerator pedal, operator’s seat, direction shift switch, armrest, horn switch, lighting switch, emergency power cut-off switch, and arm guard.
  • Instrument Panel: Displays travel speed, hour meter, date and time, drive-wheel angle, battery charge level, low-speed travel (turtle) indicator, S.P.E. mode indicator (S for Super, P for Power, E for Economy), and load meter. It also shows error codes and warning lights for controller/motor overheat or interlock activation.
  • S.P.E. Mode: Allows selection of operating power modes (Super, Power, Economy) to suit different tasks, from high-speed/heavy loads to careful/slow handling for fragile items or extended battery life.
  • Low-Speed Travel (Turtle) Mode: Limits travel speed to 5 km/h for precise maneuvers.
  • Steering: Electronic power steering with SSC (Safe Speed Control) that automatically limits maximum speed during turns to prevent tipping. The steering column angle and fore/aft position are adjustable.
  • Braking: Features a brake pedal for mechanical braking and regenerative braking (electronic braking) when releasing the accelerator or reversing direction.
  • Foot Switch: A safety device that applies the brake and shuts off the traveling circuit if released during operation, ensuring the operator's left leg remains within the compartment.
  • Load Handling: Forks are secured with stoppers and can be adjusted for spread using feet. A fork positioning laser unit (optional) assists in aligning forks with pallets.
  • Safety Devices: Includes overhead guard, load backrest, seat belt, arm guard, foot switch, SSC, and travel/load handling speed limiters. The interlock system prevents operation if the operator is not in the seat.
  • Optional Equipment: Headlights (RWL), strobe light (FLL), and forward travel chime (TAF) enhance visibility and safety in various working conditions.

Maintenance Features:

  • Preoperational Checks: Operators must perform daily checks before each shift, including general truck condition, wiring, battery electrolyte level, battery stopper, load backrest, forks, trailing wheels, piping, drive wheel, overhead guard, hydraulic oil level, brake pedal, operator's seat and steering column, seat belt, steering wheel, instrument panel, horn, back-up buzzer, lights, load handling levers, mast locking bolt, lift chain tension, and battery hook.
  • Periodic Inspections: Mandatory monthly and annual inspections by certified experts are required.
  • Safety Parts Replacement: Critical parts like hydraulic hoses (1-2 years), lift chains (2-4 years), and electromagnetic brakes (9-10 years) must be replaced at regular intervals, even if they appear functional, to prevent accidents.
  • Battery Care: Includes checking electrolyte level (adding purified water if low), specific gravity (using a hydrometer and conversion table), and proper charging procedures.
  • Battery Charging: Requires good ventilation, grounding of power supply equipment, and using appropriate chargers. Electrolyte temperature must be below 40°C.
  • Battery Removal/Reinstallation: Detailed steps are provided for safely removing and reinstalling the battery pack using the battery lock release pedal.
  • Cleaning: Regular cleaning of the battery (with a damp cloth) and other truck components is essential.
