FAQ

FAQ

Overview

The Viomi Alpha 2 Pro is a robot vacuum-mop designed for automated floor cleaning in a home environment. It is suitable for various floor types, including wooden floors, ceramic tiles, and short-staple carpets. The device integrates both vacuuming and mopping functionalities, offering a comprehensive cleaning solution.

Function Description

The primary function of the Viomi Alpha 2 Pro is to autonomously clean floors. It navigates using a laser radar system, allowing it to map its surroundings and plan efficient cleaning routes. The robot is equipped with a main brush and side brushes to effectively collect dust, dirt, and debris. For mopping, it utilizes a 2-in-1 water tank and mop, which can be refilled and cleaned.

A key feature of this device is its automatic dirt disposal system. After a cleaning session, the robot returns to its charging dock, which also serves as a dirt disposal station. Here, the collected dirt from the robot's dust compartment is automatically transferred into a larger dust bag within the disposal unit. This significantly reduces the frequency with which users need to manually empty the robot's dustbin. The automatic dirt disposal function can be toggled on or off via the accompanying mobile application.

The robot is powered by a high-performance rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack, enabling it to operate autonomously for extended periods. When the battery level is low during cleaning, the robot will automatically return to the charging dock to recharge and then resume cleaning from where it left off.

Usage Features

The Viomi Alpha 2 Pro offers several user-friendly features for operation and control:

  • Power On/Off and Global Cleaning: The robot can be powered on or off by long-pressing a button for 3 seconds. A short press of the same button initiates or pauses a global cleaning session. LED indicators provide visual feedback on the robot's status, such as standby, working, charging, network connection, or low battery/malfunction.
  • Smart Recharging: A short press of the recharge button initiates smart recharging. The robot can also be put into a pair mode by long-pressing the recharge button for 5 seconds.
  • Network Configuration and App Control: The robot connects to Wi-Fi, allowing control and monitoring through the Mijia App. Users can configure network settings, check firmware, and perform firmware upgrades via the app. The app also enables remote control, scheduling cleaning tasks, and other smart home integrations.
  • Automatic/Manual Recharging: After completing a cleaning cycle, the robot automatically returns to the charging dock. If the battery runs low during cleaning, it will autonomously return to recharge and then resume cleaning. Users can also manually initiate recharging.
  • Refilling Tank or Cleaning Mop Half-Way: The cleaning process can be paused to refill the water tank or clean the mop. The mopping module can be easily removed, serviced, and re-mounted to continue cleaning.
  • Fault Alarms: In case of a fault, the robot provides audible and visual alarms, with the power LED indicator flashing orange. Detailed troubleshooting information is available in the manual.
  • Sleep Mode: The robot enters sleep mode after 10 minutes of inactivity to conserve power. Any button press will wake it up.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of the Viomi Alpha 2 Pro. The manual provides detailed instructions for various maintenance tasks:

  • 2-in-1 Dust Compartment with Water Tank: This component should be regularly cleaned. It can be removed by pressing a release button. The filter screen clamp and filter screen should be detached and cleaned with the provided cleaning brush. The dust compartment itself can be filled with water, shaken, and emptied until clean.
  • Mop Cleaning/Replacement: The mop should be cleaned regularly, as a contaminated mop can impair sweeping performance. It is recommended to remove the mop from the tank, clean it by twisting, and then dry it. Mops should not be cleaned while mounted to the tank to prevent damage.
  • Main Brush Cleaning/Replacement: The main brush is a consumable item and should be cleaned weekly. It is recommended to replace the main brush every 1-2 months. To clean, the cleaner is turned over, the main brush cover is removed by pressing its clamp, and the brush is taken out. Hairs and debris around the brush can be cut off with a knife and cleaned with the other end of the knife. After cleaning, the main brush and its cover are re-mounted and clamped. Care should be taken to avoid collision with the laser radar when turning the robot over.
  • Side Brush Cleaning/Replacement: The side brush is connected by buckles and can be easily removed by hand for cleaning or replacement. It is recommended to replace the side brush every 3-6 months.
  • Dust Bag Replacement: The automatic dirt disposal unit contains a dust bag that needs to be replaced when full. An orange LED indicator on the dirt disposal unit will light up to signal that the dust bag is full. Dust bags are consumable and not reusable.
  • Dust Duct Cleaning: The dirt disposal unit should be inverted to check for blockages in the dirt tunnel. If blocked, a screwdriver can be used to detach the transparency cover and remove any foreign matter.
  • Sensor Cleaning: All sensors, including cliff sensors, laser sensors, charging electrodes, and the laser radar, should be cleaned weekly with a clean, soft cloth to ensure proper cleaning performance and navigation.
  • Battery Maintenance: The robot is equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack. To maintain its performance, the battery should be charged regularly. If the robot is not used for a long time, it should be turned off and charged at least once a month to prevent damage from over-discharge. If the battery leaks, contact with skin or clothing should be prevented, and the liquid should be wiped with a dry cloth. Leaking batteries should be disposed of safely at a recycling station. Battery replacement should only be performed by skilled persons or authorized service departments.
