Emergency starting/jump-starting
Injury hazard due to malfunctioning batteries
Batteries give off explosive gases that can cause
deflagrations if ignited.
► Do not smoke, avoid fire and open flames.
► Do not place any tools on the battery.
Short circuit when jump-starting the machine.
► Ensure that the vehicle giving a jump start and the
machine do not touch.
► Do not jump-start the machine if the battery is
malfunctioning or frozen.
► Do not connect two batteries in series.
► Use only batteries with the same voltage for jump-
starting.
► Use only tested battery jumper cables with insulated
terminal clamps and a sufficient cable cross-section.
► Route the battery jumper cables so that they cannot
catch on rotating engine parts.
► After jump-starting the machine, fit the cover of the
positive terminal of the machine back on again.
