Why WAGNER 505 does not start?
    • M

If your WAGNER Paint Sprayer doesn't start, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the sprayer is properly plugged in and the ON/OFF switch is flipped to the 'ON' position. Check the fuse in the circuit and replace it if it's blown. Test the power supply voltage at the wall plug. If the unit was turned off under pressure, turn the Prime/Spray Knob to the Prime position. Inspect the motor cord or extension cord for damage or insufficient capacity, and replace if necessary. If the thermal overload has tripped, allow the motor to cool in a shady spot. If none of these steps work, there may be a motor problem. In that case, take the sprayer to a Wagner Authorized Service Center.

How to fix WAGNER 505 Paint Sprayer that draws paint but drops away when gun is opened?
    • L
      Laura JosephAug 5, 2025
If your WAGNER Paint Sprayer draws paint but the paint stream drops away when the gun is opened, the issue might stem from several causes. Start by replacing the spray tip with a new one. Clean both the suction set filter and the optional hopper screen if they're clogged. Also, check the gun or spray tip filter for blockages, clean or replace it, and keep extra filters handy. If the paint is too heavy or coarse, thin or strain it. Clean or replace a dirty or worn outlet valve assembly, and replace any worn or damaged inlet valve.

What to do if WAGNER 505 starts but does not draw paint?
    • I
      idavisAug 16, 2025
If your WAGNER Paint Sprayer starts but doesn't draw in paint, try these steps: First, reprime the unit. Ensure the suction tube is fully immersed in the paint. Check and clean the suction set filter and hopper screen if they are clogged. Make sure the suction tube is tightly connected at the inlet valve—clean the connection and tighten it. Also, inspect and clean the inlet and outlet valves if they are stuck. Replace any worn parts. If the prime spray valve is plugged or dirty, or if you suspect a diaphragm problem or low hydraulic oil level, take the sprayer to a Wagner Authorized Service Center. Finally, check the inlet valve for wear or damage; clean or replace it as needed.
