Overview

The Waters Magnet+ is a laboratory device designed for automating magnetic bead-based protocols, integrating with the OneLab software for design and execution of experiments. It is part of the Andrew Alliance product line, a Waters Company.

Function Description:

The Magnet+ is a module that applies a magnetic field to labware, primarily for bead purification protocols. It works in conjunction with the OneLab platform, which allows users to design, execute, and monitor experiments. The device is capable of both manual and automated operation, supporting various experiment setups including fully automated, assisted and traced, and manual pipetting. It is designed to facilitate precise and complete protocols, guiding users through each step with visual instructions and recording all experiment data within OneLab.

Safety Instructions:

  • Magnets and Pacemakers: The magnetic field near the magnets can affect pacemakers, ICDs, and other implanted medical devices. Care must be taken to avoid deactivating such devices.
  • Movement: The device must always be completely switched off (cables removed) before moving it.
  • Handling: Handle with caution as it contains moving parts.
  • User Distance: Maintain a distance of at least 20cm from the product (WiFi antenna) during installation and operation.

  • Power On/Off:
    • Power On: When in standby mode (plugged in but off), press the power button to turn on. The device will also automatically start up when plugged into a power source.
    • Power Off: When the device is in an idle state (no experiment running), press the power button for 5 seconds to turn off.
  • LED Indicator: The LED indicator turns blue and blinks during installation mode and stops blinking when successfully connected to Wi-Fi.
  • Multiple Device Installation: The manual provides steps for connecting multiple devices, including placing them as indicated by OneLab, opening hatches, plugging in power cables, routing cables through dedicated paths, and closing hatches.
  • Built-in Components: Features a built-in computer and a built-in wireless adapter. It includes a power socket and an Ethernet port for cable connection.
