  Common reasons for a White Rodgers Thermostat not producing heat, cool, or fan output include a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker, a furnace power switch set to OFF, or a furnace blower compartment door or panel that is loose or improperly installed. To resolve this, replace the fuse or reset the breaker, turn the furnace power switch to ON, and ensure the furnace blower compartment door or panel is correctly positioned to engage the safety interlock or door switch.

  If your White Rodgers Thermostat causes the furnace to cycle too fast or too slow, the thermostat's location or the heating system's size may be affecting the cycle rate. The cycle rate is controlled by Item 2 in the Configuration Menu. If you can't achieve an acceptable cycle rate using the FA (Fast) or SL (Slow) adjustment, contact a local service person for more advice.

  If your White Rodgers Thermostat isn't cooling, make sure the System Switch is set to Cool and the setpoint is lower than the room temperature. Check that the thermostat and system wires are securely attached. Follow the same diagnostic steps as for a 'No Heat' condition, but set the thermostat to Cool and lower the setpoint below room temperature. Note that there may be a delay of up to five minutes before the thermostat clicks if the compressor lock-out option is enabled in the configuration menu (Item 4).

  If your White Rodgers Thermostat isn't heating, first ensure the System Switch is set to Heat and the setpoint is higher than the room temperature. Verify that the thermostat and system wires are securely attached. To diagnose, set the System Switch to Heat and raise the setpoint above room temperature. Within five minutes, the thermostat should make a soft click, indicating it's likely working. If it doesn't click, try resetting it. If it still doesn't click after resetting, contact a service person or the place of purchase for a replacement. If it does click, contact the furnace manufacturer or a service person to check the heating system.
