4.1.2 Parallel circuit of resistors
When connecting two resistors R1 and R2 parallel the following total
resistance R results:
R = (R1 x R2) / (R1 + R2)
Example:
Resistance R1 = 1 k-Ohm parallel to the resistor R2 = 100 Ohm
Calculated total resistance R = (1 x 100) / (1 + 0,1) = 99,9 Ohm
The total resistance becomes less.
Another example shows when two similar resistors of 1 k-Ohm are parallel
connected:
(1 x 1) / (1 + 1) = 0,5 k-Ohm
The total resistance is reduced to a half
