  First, check the cable connections to ensure they are secure. Then, verify that the scanner's power is on. If the status light isn't lit, try plugging the power supply into a different electrical outlet, avoiding UPS battery backups or power strips initially. Also, ensure that 'Xerox[®] Duplex Portable Scanner' is selected as the scanner in your scanning software. The USB cable length should be 6’ or less.
