ADJUSTING THE ENGINE IDLING SPEED
Prior to adjusting the engine idling speed, the
carburetor synchronization should be adjusted
properly, the air filter should be clean, and the
engine should have adequate compression.
1. Start the engine and let it warm up for several
minutes.
2. Remove:
center cover
side cover (left and right)
Refer to “COVER AND PANEL”.
3. Install:
engine tochometer
(onto the spark plug lead of cylinder. #1)
Engine tachometer

4. Measure:
engine idling speed
Out of spcification ! adjust
Engine idling speed
1150 X 1250 r/min
5. Adjust:
engine idling speed
a. Turn the pilot screw
1
in or out until it is light-
ly seated.
b. Turn the pilot screw out the specified number
of turns.
Pilot screw
2 turns out
