SHAFT PRELOAD
36.
Measure bearing clearance as follows:
a.
Remove hex plug from housing.
d.
Zero dial indicator.
b. Screw special bolt
with
nut into intermediate shaft and
tighten snuggly. Turn nut up until it touches bolt head.
c.
Mount dial indicator on bolt
head.
Turn output shaft sev-
eral
times to ensure bearing is seated.
IMPORTANT: The
following
step
should be
done
very
carefully,
to
obtain
the
actual
bearing
clearance.
Turn
nut
very
slowly
as
shaft
will
only
be
moving
a
small
amount.
e.
Hold bolt
with
one wrench and slowly
turn
down nut to
pull shaft upward. (Perform the above sequence sev-
eral
times to ensure accurate reading.)
