Wire the Option
1.
Select an external power supply.
Two times the usual current will flow through the option for approximately 0.5
seconds after energizing the option.
3 A minimum are necessary for the option to function correctly.
WARNING! Electrical Shock Hazard. Use a battery or a double-reinforced UL Class 2 power supply to
provide power to the option. Other power supplies can cause death or serious injury from electrical shock or
fire.

Remove the terminal cover and wire Terminal Block TB1.
Wire the external power supply to terminal block TB1 on the option.
Use a straight-edge screwdriver to loosen the screws on the terminal block of the
option. Then connect wires to the 24 V, 0, and FE terminals as shown in Figure 37
and tighten the terminal screws using the tightening torque in on page 21.
Be sure to connect each wire correctly, do not pinch wire insulation in the terminals,
and cut frayed wires.
NOTICE: Correctly connect an external 24 V power source to the option terminal block. Refer to Option
Specifications on page 42 for information. Incorrect terminal connections can cause damage to the option.

WARNING! Fire Hazard. Tighten all terminal screws to the correct tightening torque. Connections that are
too loose or too tight can cause incorrect operation and damage to the drive. Incorrect connections can also
cause death or serious injury from fire.
NOTICE: Use heat shrink tubing or electrical tape to make sure that cable shielding does not touch other
wires. Incorrect insulation can cause damage to the option or drive from a short circuit.

Loosen the screws
and put the wire
into the opening on
the terminal block.
Connect Wire Ends
Screwdriver blade size
Approximately
5.5 mm (7/32") with
no crimped
insulated sleeves.
Pull back the shielding and lightly
twist the end with your fingers.
Do not let the ends fray.
Blade depth of
0.4 mm (0.02")
or less
Blade width of
2.5 mm (0.1")
or less
