SECTION 3 - DISPLAY MESSAGES
3
The Status Bar of the Display contains a Status Line
and, beneath it a Details Line. The Status Line contains
a message describing the operating state of the chill-
er; whether it is stopped, running, starting or shutting
down. The Details Line displays Warning, Cycling,
Safety, Start Inhibit and other messages that provide
further details of the Status Bar messages. The Status
Messages listed below are displayed on the Status Line.
All other messages are displayed on the Details Line.
To aid in the meaning of the message, messages are
displayed in different colors as follows:
• Normal Operation messages - Green
• Warning messages - Yellow
• Cycling Shutdown messages - Orange
• Safety Shutdown messages - Red
Note that there are three types of shutdowns:
• Cycling Shutdown - If the chiller shuts down on
a cycling shutdown, it will automatically restart
when the condition that caused the shutdown no
longer exists.
• Safety Shutdown - These shutdowns require the
operator to perform a manual reset at the keypad.
• Normal Shutdown - These shutdowns occur from
a properly requested or scheduled shutdown. The
event that caused the shutdown is displayed on the
Details Line.
STATUS MESSAGES
SYSTEM READY TO START
The chiller is shut down but will start upon receipt of a
Local or Remote start signal.
CYCLING SHUTDOWN – AUTO RESTART
The chiller is shut down on a cycling shutdown. The
cause of the shutdown is still in effect and is displayed
on the Details Line of the Status Bar. The chiller will
automatically restart when the Cycling condition clears.
SAFETY SHUTDOWN – MANUAL RESTART
The chiller is shut down on a safety shutdown. The
cause of the shutdown is still in effect and is displayed
on the Details Line of the Status Bar. The chiller can
be started after the Safety condition clears and the op-
erator moves the COMPRESSOR switch to the Stop-
Reset (O) position.
START SEQUENCE INITIATED
A chiller start has been initiated. Duration of this period
depends upon whether the Refrigerant Level Control
feature is Enabled or Disabled. If disabled, period is 30
seconds. If enabled, duration is as programmed with
the Value Preset Time setpoint (30 to 120 seconds).
Refer to description in Chiller Operating Overview in
front of this book. The oil supply solenoid valve 1SOL
is energized (opened) for the first 15 seconds. During
this 15 seconds period, the pressure transducer Auto-
Zeroing sequence is performed unless it was disabled.
SYSTEM RUN
The chiller is running under the condition described in
the Details Line of the Status Bar.
START INHIBIT
The chiller is prevented from being started due to the
reason displayed on the Details Line of the Status Bar.
SLIDE VALVE UNLOADING BEFORE SHUTDOWN
To prevent an overcurrent condition when starting the
compressor, the slide valve should be in the unloaded
position. While the unload signal is being applied,
“Slide Valve Unloading Before Shutdown” is dis-
played. To assist the slide valve in returning to the un-
loaded position, an unload signal is applied to it while
the compressor is still running prior to shutting down
on the following shutdowns:
• MULTIUNIT CYCLING - CONTACTS OPEN
• SYSTEM CYCLING - CONTACTS OPEN
• REMOTE STOP
• LEAVING CHILLED LIQUID - LOW
TEMPERATURE
• CONTROL PANEL - SCHEDULE
The duration of the unload signal applied depends on
the software version:
• With software version C.OPT.05.08.303 (and ear-
lier), it is 60 seconds.
• With software version C.OPT.05.09.303 (and later),
the duration is determined by the motor current
when the shutdown command is received as follows:
- 100% FLA or above equals 30 seconds.
- 75% FLA and below equals 5 seconds, lin-
ear between 75% and 100% FLA.
