allows the device’s microwave power to be set in increments of 2 or
5 watts depending on the operating mode selected. Turn the dial clockwise to increase the
power, and anti-clockwise to reduce it.
The maximum power levels are: 250 watts in unpulsed mode, 125 watts in pulsed modes, and
50 watts in pulsed low power modes.
After the intensity controller is activated for the first time and the device is ready for use
(mains connection light on, operating display off), the device first performs self-calibration and
the operating display flashes. After 5 seconds the operating display starts to glow steadily.
Now the microwave output can be set and treatment can begin.
Micro 5 offers the following operating modes:
unpulsed: max. 250 W
pulsed 0.5 Hz low power: max. 50 W pulse-pause ratio 1:2
pulsed 1 Hz low power: max. 50 W pulse-pause ratio 1:2
pulsed 0.5 Hz: max. 125 W pulse-pause ratio 1:1
pulsed 1 Hz: max. 125 W pulse-pause ratio 1:1
head
Turning the adjustment knobs on the adjustable radiator head allows the operator to adjust
the physical size of the radiation field to be adjusted to the requirements of the part of the
body being treated.
The size of the field should correspond to the size of the part of the body being treated.
radiator head
The radiator head must be at least 10 cm away from the part of the patient’s body being
treated, and must not touch the skin.
When adjusting the radiation field and positioning the radiator head, ensure that no
other body parts (e.g. eyes, testes) can be accidentally exposed to radiation because they are
in the radiation field. If necessary, change the position of the radiator head or the patient’s
posture.
Make sure that there is no power output and so no accidental emission of radiation
to the patient or operator while positioning the radiator head.
Particular caution is necessary if the radiator head is very close to or on the patient’s
body, because this limits heat escape.
No metallic objects (jewellery, belt buckles, wallet/purse, clothing with metal
fibres, implants, etc.) may be present in the radiation field!
