LOGGING IN TO SWITCH
Setting Up
Configuration
Environment through
the Console Port
Step 1: As shown in the figure below, to set up the local configuration
environment, connect the serial port of a PC (or a terminal) to the Console port of
the switch with the Console cable.

Step 2: Run a terminal emulator (such as Terminal of Windows 3X or
HyperTerminal of Windows 9X) on the computer. Set the terminal communication
parameters as follows: Set "Bits per second" to "9600", "Data bits" to "8",
"Parity" to "none", "Stop bits" to "1", and "Flow control" to "none", and select
the "VT100" as the terminal type.
