Moving Units from a 9500S to a 9550SX, 9590SE, or
9650SE Controller
It is fairly straightforward to move units from a 9500S controller to a 9550SX,
9590SE, or 9650SE controller. The steps you follow depend on whether you
are booting from the drives attached to the 9500S, or whether they are being
used for secondary storage.
To move a bootable unit from a 9500S to a 9550SX, 9590SE, or
9650SE controller
1 If you are working with a Linux system, skip to step 2.
If you are working with a Windows system:
a Power down the computer.
b Install the 9550SX, 9590SE, or 9650SE controller in the computer,
leaving the 9500S installed and its drives attached.
c Boot to the operating system.
2 Update the driver for the 9550SX, 9590SE, or 9650SE.
If you are using Linux, you will also need to update the initial RAM disk
with the
mkinitrd command.
3 Power down the computer.
