Create T7T8 In-Grids
Rotate the [MainSelector] to five o'clock. Originally devoted
to recording the mixer's output, the T7T8 In-Grids continue
to be handled separately from
T1–T6 and are displayed on the
rectangular screen. Pressing the
[ok] button causes the [jog] to
scroll through forty five In-Grid pairs (see table below).
• None None: T7T8 are disarmed to save disk space.
• Xa Xb: the T1 – T6 mixer outputs are sent to T7T8; a
'mix' icon appears in the left circular screen.
• input
& Xb: a mic, line or digi-in (e.g. boom) goes to T7,
and the mix of T1 – T6, all panned to Xb, goes to T8.
• input
& Xb+: the '+' sign means that T7 is inserted at its
nominal level into the Xb dynamic mono-mix.
• input pair: a mic, line or digi input pair goes to T7T8.
• digi7 mic5: tailored for the last track recording of an eight-
track 'Re-recording' session (see RR8, right column).
preset T7T8 In-Grids
The T7T8 signal levels are displayed on the rectangular
screen bargraphs and on the right circular screen by pressing
the [eye] button.
M/S Declaration
T7T8 can't be 'm-s' declared.
AES power
As soon as an AES digi-in is selected in the routings, the
digi 1-6 input icons start flashing to remind you to turn the AES
power 'ON'. AES converters consume 110mA at 48kHz
and 200mA at 96kHz; if they are not in use it is wise to turn
them 'OFF' in TECHSET.02 'Digi power'. The AES convert-
ers translate any incoming AES sample rate, e.g. 44.1kHz,
to Cantar's selected sampling rate, e.g. 48000Hz.
Sixteen Tracks needs two Cantar-X2s
To impose the same sampling rate and phase, and get a
sixteen-track machine, enter a Wordclock signal on the
SubD 15 Pin-4, and select a 'WC' prefixed sampling rate in
AUDIO/TC.01 'Sample Rate'. If you select the wrong sam-
pling rate, 'Wordclock SampleRate mismatch' is displayed
on the rectangular screen. If the Wordclock reference is
missing, 'Wordclock input missing' is displayed.
Rec&Play In-Grids see Rec&Play, p.49
