Where and when storing the SoundReport
Three possibilities
1 Backup@call:
a- when BACKUP.14 'Run backup' is completed the
SoundReport is systematically stored with your audio
files on the backup media (DVD-RAM, DVD, CD, Ext.
HDD, etc) selected in BACKUP.06.
b- the SoundReport carries the treatment of the files
themselves, i.e Direct(mono), (poly)Native, (poly)Rotate,
or miX, as selected in BACKUP.04/05.
2 Snap report
a- triggered by BACKUP.11 'Snap report', the
SoundReport goes to the HDD disk(s) used for Iso record-
ing, i.e Int.HDD, Ext.HDD or BothHDDs, as selected in
SESSION.03. It can't go to the DVD-RAM.
b- the selected SoundReport treatment, i.e Direct(mono),
(poly)Native, (poly)Rotate, or miX, can be different from
the one selected for other purposes.
3 Idle report
a- triggered by BACKUP.12 'Idle-Report', the SoundReport
goes to the media previously selected in SESSION.06
for the idle copy, this is done while in TEST or STOP
positions.
b- Idle report adopts the same BACKUP.04/05 'treat-
ment' selected for the idle-copy of the audio files, i.e
Direct(mono), (poly)Native, (poly)Rotate, or miX.
REMINDER: You must manually execute BACKUP.12
'Idle Report' BEFORE you disconnect or eject the idle-
copied drive.
Meaning of the audio folders' .AAD, .AAR, .AAN, .AAX
suffixes
• while recording the audio files on either the internal
or external HDD or both (as selected in SESSION.03)
they all are stored inside .AAD folders as ISO tracks, i.e.
monophonic files.
• when backing up the files by any method, whatever
the selected media, they are stored in different folders
depending on the treatment they received: Direct(mono)
go to .AAD, (poly)Native go to .AAN,, (poly)Rotate, go
to .AAR, and miX go to AAX (p.39 & p.40).
After the backup is done, it is still possible to make some
metadata changes on the discs.
• If your backup has been done on CD or DVD±R, you
can't insert any corrections. Redo the burning on virgin
media.
• If the backup has been done on a DVD-RAM or an
Ext.HDD, it is possible to modify it: FIRST select 'Idle
copy' in BACKUP.01 and the drive to be corrected. Go
to BROWSE and modify the metadata stored on the Int.
HDD. Once done go to TEST, the corrections are trans-
fered from the Int.HDD to the backup drive.
If for some reason you forgot to first select 'idle copy'
before your corrections, go to BACKUP.01 ''Idle copy',
select the backup drive, and go to TEST. As soon as the
drive icon appears in the modulometer's center (it can
take up to 20sec for a DVD-RAM), the corrections are
transferred from the Int.HDD to the backup drive.
It is possible to make a second backup of the workday
on DVD or Ext.HDD if you have done an idle copy DVD-
RAM during the day.
• DVD: in the evening go to BACKUP.06 'Media type'
and select DVD, then in BACKUP.08 'File to copy' select
'All' to allow Cantar to burn the already archived files
again. Then go to BACKUP.14 'Run backup'.
• Ext.HDD: in the evening go to BACKUP.06 'Media
type', select Ext.HDD. Then go to BACKUP.14 'Run
backup'.
"No Store" appears in the rectangular screen.
It reminds you that BACKUP.01 'PolyStore' has been
activated but you forgot to select a 'poly' treatment in
BACKUP.04/05!
note: "End Stor trtmt" tells you the 'poly' treatment has
been successfully stored in a folder of the recording
HDD, waiting for your end of day backup@call. From
time to time, flush out these provisional files from the
HDD (see BACKUP.13 'Erase Polys').
