So is close to the Ph position for a good reason: the last
activated solo map is kept in memory and immediately sent
to the phones when toggling between Ph and So (see an
application below).
The So position monitors the dynamic mix of the PLAYed
file (like in TEST or REC). As an operational PLAY tip, you
can instantly compare your recorded mixdown 'Ph A: T7T8
center' and 'So: XC' by toggling between Ph and So, this
is used to 'evaluate' the necessity of a remix either with
Canttar Rec&Play or later.
As an alternative to the So position, the mic inputs can be
instantly solo-ed by pressing their [so-fil-tom] buttons, and the
tracks by pressing their [track-solo] buttons.
note1: the XX selection lets you output miXa and miXb
whether or not they are recorded on T7T8.
note2: Ph Q adds miXa and miXb to the operator's se-
lected Out-Map, e.g. the L/R decoded miXa/miXb of
M/S pairs recorded on T1T2, T3T4, T5T6 can be added to
the T7T8 Out-Map.
AES power reminder
As soon as you select an Out-Map with digi-out, the track
icons start flashing in the circular screens to remind you to
turn the AES interface 'ON'. This interface consumes 110mA
at 48kHz and 200mA at 96kHz, if it is not in use, turn it
'OFF' in TECHSET.02 'Digi Power'.
Digi 1–8 out (AES 1–8)
The use of the AES outputs is recommended to send audio
signals to the external world: totally transparent, no interfer-
ence prone cables.
Connect them to video cameras featuring AES inputs (such as
the Sony HD-Cam F900-SR), or to an SDI camera equipped
with a miniature AES-to-Analog converter.
The eight AES outputs are separated into two groups:
• the Digi - out 1 2, 3 4, 5 6 pairs transmit
tracks 1 – 6 or
mic1–5 & line1
The 'mic1–5 & line1' option lets you use Cantar's high qual-
ity preamplifiers/limiters to send audio signals to an external
mixer and re-enter them through the digi 1 to digi 6 inputs to
record them.
• the Digi - out 7 8 pair transmits either
tracks 7 & 8 or
a Do selected Out-Map, including the stereo mix.
See AUDIO/TC.19 '
Digi1–8 Out', p.32.
