6.4.5. Energy Storage Interface
The HiPerGuard MV UPS shall connect to an energy storage Battery Management System (BMS) either
via a dedicated hardwired remote I/O interface or indirectly using an external SCADA/PLC MODBUS
client. This interface selection is performed using a source-select parameter.
Note: Power Exchanger functionality is only possible when MV UPS interfaces to BMS via MODBUS TCP
communication.
6.4.5.1. Modbus TCP interface
The MV UPS and the BMS are MODBUS servers and as such require an intermediary SCADA/PLC
MODBUS client to facilitate communications.
The MV UPS shall not communicate directly with any BMS. A project/site specific SCADA/PLC shall
communicate with the BMS and then write relevant data to the MV UPS MODBUS registers. Refer to the
latest revision of document 2UCD400000E012 HiPerGuard MV UPS MODBUS TCP Register Map for this.
