2.3.6 Simulation of sampled values

SAM600-VT and SAM600-CT modules support a simulation mode.
An individual SAM600 module or all SAM600-VT and SAM600-CT modules of a SAM600 system
can be set to simulation mode by selecting the SAM600 Command Simulation Mode in the
PCM600 navigation tree on the appropriate level.
The simulation mode is not persistent and will revert back to its default value
(Simulation Mode off) upon the next restart of a SAM600 module.
The simulated values with the quality information
Substituted
and
Test
will not
be processed as valid values by any 61850-9-2 subscriber until the subscriber is
set to Test mode.
In Simulation Mode, the sample values are taken from a standard sine wave. The frequency of
the generated sine wave is according to the configuration parameter

Phase A has a zero-crossing at the full second. Phase B is shifted by -120 degrees against
phase A; phase C is shifted by +120 degrees. The resulting sine wave amplitude is scaled
according to the configuration parameters
Transducer value on primary
for each individual
phase such that the RMS value of the phase corresponds to the transducer primary setting.
Simulated values for phases A to C on SAM600-VT modules represent line-to-neutral voltages.
The generation of samples for the neutral phase depends on the setting of the configuration
parameter
Neutral phase behavior
. When set to

, the neutral phase value is the sum
of the three phase values after they are scaled by the transducer primary value for the neutral
phase. When set to
Measured
, the standard sine value with 0 degree phase shift is taken and
scaled by the
Transducer value on primary
for the neutral phase.
Simulated values are merged according to the same rules as measured values (see conditions
in
Table 3). The values are provided on the IEC61850 access points. The detail quality
information of the samples in the IEC/UCA 61850-9-2LE stream for simulated data is set to
Substituted
(see Table 3).
