MS-DOS is the Windows/Mac-compatible file system avail-
able on the Mac OS. It is equivalent to FAT32.
Choosing a File System
If you plan to use the Drive only on Windows XP or 2000,
we recommend re-formatting the Drive with the NTFS file
system.
If you plan to use the Drive only on a Mac, we recom-
mend re-formatting the Drive with one of the Mac OS
Extended file systems (HFS Plus).
Re-formatting the Drive for Mac and PC
If you ever need to re-format the Drive but you want to
maintain Mac and PC compatibility, you have two options:
1. Format the Drive on a Windows PC using FAT32.
2. Format the Drive on Mac OS 10.3 or later using the MS-DOS
file system. (MS-DOS is equivalent to FAT32 on the PC.)
