3.4.2 X-ray detector
The X-ray detector (see Figure 3.7) is a multipurpose photodiode array element with
scintillation coating. The current of the photodiodes is proportional to the total energy of the X-
ray photons crossing the volume of the scintillator and characterizes the level of the X-ray ab-
sorbed by the object.
