The number of X-ray sensitive elements (photodiode-scintillator combination) is charac-
terized by the number of elements (pixels) of a digital image. During the scanning process, the
output signal of each element is successively read, digitalized by the electronic interface unit
and stored, thus creating one digital imaging column on the display. The number of columns of
the digital image is determined by the polling cycle number of the
X-ray sensitive element “array”.
