12 Install the isolation tip on end of the GC/MS interface. For the CI GC/MS
interface and the EI GCMS interface with an extractor EI source (Figure 5)
install the tip seal spring, then align and gently slide the tip with knurled
nut over the column end, and screw the knurled nut onto the end of the
interface. For the EI GC/MS interface with a standard or inert EI source, a
tip seal is not needed.

CAUTION
Use care when placing the isolation tip on the end of the GC/MS interface to avoid
damaging the column.
