Installing 7890 GC Columns 2
5977B Series MSD Operating Manual 55
The GC/MSD Interface for a 7890B Series GC
The GC/MSD interface is a heated conduit into the MSD for the capillary
column. (See Figure 10.) It is bolted onto the right side of the analyzer
chamber, with an O-ring seal. It has a protective cover which should be left in
place.
One end of the interface passes through the side of the GC and extends into
the oven. This end is threaded to allow connection of the column with a nut
and ferrule. The other end of the interface fits into the ion source. The end of
the capillary column extends slightly past the end of the column guide tube
and into the ionization chamber.
