Sharpening the mower knives
Wear protective goggles and protec-
tive gloves.
Depending on their utilisation, the mow-
er knives are blunt after 4 ... 20 operat-
ing hours so that regrinding is neces-
sary.
It is advisable to use a hand-held grinder
working at approx. 15.000 ... 20.000 rpm
in conjunction with a cup-shaped grind-
ing pen with a diameter of 25 mm and a
length of approx. 35 mm, or a special
sharpening device.
Sharpening the mower knives is
very important for achieving clean and
trouble-free mowing.
• Only the face side of the grinding
pin is used for grinding, moving from
the back of the knife to the tips of
the knives.
• The blades must not heat up. They
are useless (annealed and soft)
when they turn blue.
• Do not chamfer the knives at the
front (P).
• Do not grind the cutting edges in a
curve (P).
• Remove burrs with a hand stone.
