PointingProcedure:
Loosen all M10 nuts (bolts) of the antenna fixing antenna position in horizontal or vertical
direction.
UsinganAllenwrenchno.5 loosenandflipupthecoverontheODUbox
(seethechapter9onthepage5).
After removing the BNC connector cover at
the bottom part of the ODU box connect DC
voltmeter set to the min. range of 5 V to it. It is more advantageous to use an analog
voltmeter for easier reading while searching for a maximum value. (In a pinch you can
connectaDCamperemeterwiththemin.
rangeof5mA).
The rotary switch needs to be moved to the pointing position. Base tone of acoustic
signalizationsounds,whichbyitspitch(notintensity)correspondstothestrengthofreceived
signal.Adeep(base) tone soundswhenthe unit doesnot receive any signal, orthe
signalis
veryweak.Thetone(voltageonU
RSSI
)increasesinjumps,sinceitisdigitallylinearized.
After switching the rotary switch, it is good to wait with reading of URSSI about 5 s for the
ATPCsystemtostabilize(ifswitchedon).
Tighten all M10 nuts (bolts) when pointing is finished. Move the rotary switch to
the zero
position.Tigtentheuserspacecover.
CAUTION
TherotaryswitchinthepositionPointingalsoswitchesoffa transmitterofthelocalstation.
Switching offof the output also in the remote station by the rotary switch can be used to
findalevelofinterferencesignals(backgroundnoise)ongivenchannels.
