Setting the IP Address
There are three ways to set the IP address on a PowerFlex 755 embedded EtherNet adapter.
•BOOTP server
Manually via the rotary switches
Manually via adapter parameters
Setting the IP Address Using BOOTP Server
By default, the drive is set up to receive its IP address via the BOOTP server.
1. Verify the rotary switches are set to the value of 999 or any value other than 001…254 and 888.
2. Verify parameter 36 [BOOTP] on Port 13 is set to ‘1’ (Enabled).
3. Verify communication has been established (ENET status indicator is steady green).
If the status indicator is not steady green, refer to the PowerFlex 755 Drive Embedded EtherNet/IP Adapter User
Ma
nual, publication
750COM-UM001 and/or your network administrator to validate connectivity.
TIP
If the PowerFlex 755 drive is connected to a Stratix 6000 or Stratix 8000 managed Ethernet switch and the drive is set for BOOTP
mode, the ‘dynamic IP address assignment by port’ (Stratix 6000) or ‘DHCP persistence’ (Stratix 8000) feature will automatically
set the IP address for the drive. For more details, see the Stratix 6000 Ethernet Managed Switch User Manual,
publication
1783-UM001 or the Stratix 8000 and Stratix 8300 Ethernet Managed Switches User Manual, publication 1783-UM003.
