Service manual AlphaCom XL transceiver Rev. 1.4 10-08-2011 Blz. 39/74
SIA High Security, only used by Alphatronics
products.
For dialers using the SIA protocol, such as SIA level
0, level 1, level 2, level 3 and the Aritech XSIA
protocol.
Ademco Contact ID reporting protocol
Scancom 8 and 16 channels dialers using the regular
1600Hz / 2000Hz acknowledge frequencies.
Scancom 8 and 16 channels dialers using the less
often used 1400Hz / 2300Hz acknowledge
frequencies. This protocol was often used by older
Aritech dialers.
Please consult the original manual of the connected dialer/control panel or contact your supplier when in
doubt. Always verify a correct reception by the monitoring station!. It is wise to use an audio amplifier on
the analog dialer to check if the protocol transmission works correctly.
The setting „Acknowledgement after confirmation‟ determines when the AlphaCom XL will send an
acknowledgement to the analog dialer that a alarm message was received. This can be immediately after
receiving the message from the analog dialer. However, using this setting means that the dialer connected to
the PSTN interface gets an acknowledge message before the message is received by the monitoring station.
By enabling this option the analog dialer receives an acknowledgement once the message has been received
by the receiver in the central station.
For security reasons, it is much better to enable the option „Acknowledge after confirmation‟. In this case,
the connected dialer only gets an acknowledge (kiss-off) message when the monitoring station received the
transmitted message correctly. Because the transmission to the monitoring station might take some time, the
connected dialer might send its message two or three times. All security protocols can use this option and
this should not lead to problems. However, some dialers does not seem to work 100% correct when this
option is activated. Especially dialers using the SIA regular protocol might have difficulties when receiving
a „negative Acknowledge‟ message. A dialer using the SIA regular protocol receiving a negative
Acknowledge message should repeat the alarm message.
Attention: to know if certain equipment can use the Acknowledge after IP confirmation option, consult your
supplier. Only use this option when it is certain that the dialer will function correct. If in doubt use the
„direct ackonwledgement‟ option.
All analog dialers transmitting the SIA-HS protocol can use the „Acknowledgement after confirmation‟
option.
