In a more simple network, often the ADSL or cable modem is used as a DHCP server. When using a fixed
IP address, check the IP address range distributed by the modem. Then program the AlphaCom XL to a
fixed IP address outside this range, to avoid conflicts with IP addresses distributed by the modem. With the
widely used Speedtouch ADSL modem/router, the screen in which it is programmed looks as follow.
