8. SPA POOL CARE & MAINTENANCE
Theremaycomeatimewhenyouneedtoleavethespapoolforaperiodlonger
thanamonthandwanttoshutthespapooloff.Followthesestepstosafely
prepare the spa pool for hibernation:
1. See Previous Steps
Performsteps1and2from‘LeavingtheSpaPoolShortTerm’before
moving on.
2. Turn OFF Spa Pool
Completelyturnoffthespapoolatyourisolationswitchormainsboard.
3. Drain the Water
Drainthewateroutofthespapoolviatheexternaldrainvalve.
4. Drain pipes via Barrel Unions
Openupthecabinetssurroundingthespapoolandlocatethebarrelunions
atthecontrollerunit/heaterandthepumps.Loosen(stropwrenchmaybe
required)thebarrelunionseithersideofthecomponenttodrainexcesswater
fromthesurroundingpipes.Putdownatowelifrequired,tosoakupwater.
Tightentheunionsbackuponcenished.
5. Blowout Pipes (recommended if switching off for 6+ months)
Climbinsidethespapoolwitha‘Wet-Vac’.Removethejetpiecesandplace
thevacuumnozzleintothejetbodytosuckwaterdirectlyoutofthepipe.Not
everyjetpieceneedstobeattendedto,aimfor3-4perseat.Otherpipesto
suckwaterfromaretheinternaldrainvalveandthecirculationjetmounted
onthesideofthespapoolacrylic(usuallynearthetopsidecontrolpanel).
6. Wipe Down Spa Pool
Removeanyexcessbuildupofwaterfrominsidethespapoolandwipethe
acrylicshelldowncompletelywithamicrobreclothandmildall-purpose
anti-bacterial spray.
7. Secure Cover
Placethespapoolcoveronsecurelyandlockwithclips.Coverentirespapool
withatarpor‘spapoolwintercover’forthebestlong-termprotection.
