What to do if ARTEX Transmitter shows 3-Flash?
    • A
      Amy HarrisonAug 2, 2025
A 3-Flash indicates a 406 MHz transmission problem. You should verify the coax cable/antenna is connected and in good condition. Perform continuity check of center conductor and shield and check for a shorted cable. Check with a VSWR meter. Check antenna for opens, shorts, or a resistive ground plane connection. Lengthen or shorten antenna coax cable length by 4 to 6 inches. Provide a ground plane at least 12 inches in diameter. Stay at least 10-12 inches away from upright metal structures. Verify 406 MHz programming. If the transmitter module is faulty, it cannot be repaired in the field and should be returned to the factory for servicing.

Why ARTEX B406-4 Transmitter remote panel status light is always on?
    • B
      barbara87Aug 8, 2025
If the remote panel status light is always on (steady), this may be due to improper wiring, a short circuit (check for frayed insulation), or an issue with crimp and solder connections. Verify the wiring and integrity of all crimp and solder connections.

What to do if ARTEX B406-4 will not turn off?
    • C
      carla98Aug 12, 2025
If the ARTEX Transmitter will not turn off, it could be due to several reasons. The battery may be too low to support the 406 burst, causing the circuit to reset (remove the battery pack to disable the ELT and replace the battery pack). There may be defective remote panel harness reset circuit wiring (check wiring continuity and repair as necessary), a defective remote switch (replace remote panel), or the ELT itself may be defective (remove the battery pack to disable the ELT and return the ELT to the factory for servicing).

What to do if ARTEX B406-4 shows 5-Flash?
    • S
      Shane ParkerAug 17, 2025
A 5-Flash on the ARTEX Transmitter indicates there is no navigation position data present. Ensure the aircraft navigation system is on. Check the system interface wiring and connections for continuity and security. If a 453-6501 ELT/NAV Interface-B is not installed, install it.

What to do if ARTEX B406-4 shows 7-Flash?
    • S
      Sara StephensAug 23, 2025
A 7-Flash indicates a battery problem. If the operating time is greater than 1 hour, replace the battery pack.

What does 1-Flash mean on ARTEX B406-4?
    • W
      walkeraustinAug 27, 2025
A 1-Flash indicates a G-switch loop open (Pins 5 and 8). Check the remote switch harness connector; if it is loose or disconnected at the ELT, tighten it as necessary. Check the condition of the ELT connector pins and repair or replace as necessary if bent or broken. If connector pins 5 and 8 jumper open (internal to remote switch harness connector at ELT end), repair the open jumper.
