y #2 Phillips screw driver
y Handle removal tool (supplied) 3/8" or
1/2" drill
Important: The accuracy of the door preparation is critical for the
proper functioning and security of this lever handle lock. Misalignment
can cause premature wear and tear and a lessening of security.
Attention Installer: Installation of cylindrical locks and latches must be through bolted in all doors. If installation instructions are not
followed this may result in damage to the lock and void the factory warranty. Any retrofit or other field modification to a fire rated opening
can potentially impact the fire rating of the opening, and ASSA ABLOY ACCENTRA™ makes no representations or warranties concerning
what such impact may be in any specific situation. When retrofitting any portion of an existing fire rated opening, or specifying and
installing a new fire-rated opening, please consult with a code specialist or local code official (Authority Having Jurisdiction) to ensure
compliance with all applicable codes and ratings.
1. Mark Door
Mark horizontal line across edge of door. 40-5/16" (102cm) is
the usual height above the floor. Fold template over edge of door,
centering on horizontal line. Mark centers of holes at proper
backset. For beveled and square edge doors, mark both sides of
the door.
NOTE: Be sure to verify backset before marking & drilling door.

Drill Door Holes

Main Door Holes (A, B)

Drill 2-1/8" (54mm) dia. hole (A) and 1" (26mm) dia. hole (B) as per instructions.

Additional Door Holes (C, D)

Drill two (2) 5/16" (8mm) dia. holes (C) and pilot holes (D) for screws.

Install Latch

Latch Insertion and Securing

Insert latch ensuring bevel faces strike plate. Attach with two screws supplied.

Adjust Lock for Door Thickness

Procedure for Thicker Doors

Remove screws, slide rose away, adjust rose plate to door thickness, reassemble.

Install Lock Body

Lockbody Insertion and Engagement

Insert lockbody ensuring frame hooks latch case and retractor engages bolt tail. Do not force.

Install Inside Components

Slide Inside Rose Assembly

Slide inside rose assembly onto lock body, aligning groove with drive lug on spindle.

Place Rose Scalp and Install Lever

Place rose scalp on rose assembly. Snap in lever handle, pull to ensure proper seating.

Strike Installation (Wood Frames)

Marking and Drilling Strike Area

Mark horizontal line on frame, measure half door thickness, drill 1" hole and 1/2" deep.

Aligning and Attaching Strike

Align strike holes with vertical line, trace outline, mortise 1/16" deep, attach with screws.

Test Lock Operation and Alignment

Cycle lock. If it binds when closed, check door and frame alignment. See Troubleshooting.

Troubleshooting Lock Issues

Door Installation and Hinge Check

Verify 1/8" gap between latch and strike. Check hinges for looseness or wear.

Latchbolt Deadlock Problems

Check strike alignment or shim strike if latchbolt won't deadlock.

Latchbolt Retraction Issues

Verify latchbolt tail and retractor positioning. Adjust rose plate or rebore holes if needed.

Remove Cylinder Handle

Procedure for Handle Removal

Insert key, rotate 70°, depress retainer with tool, slide lever off.

Remove Cylinder from Handle

Procedure for Cylinder Removal

Remove retainer spring pad, slide cylinder out of handle. Ensure spacer is on plug during reassembly.

Dummy Trim Installation

Securing Dummy Trim Components

Secure Rose Support assembly to door with screws/washers, install rose scalp and inside lever.

Remove Inside Handle (Specific Functions)

Inside Handle Removal Steps

Remove set screw, slide handle off. Do not overtighten set screw when assembling.

Adjust Door Thickness (Specific Functions)

Door Thickness Adjustment Procedure

Specific functions (5428LN, 5429LN, 5439LN) allow door thickness adjustment.

Finish Care Instructions

Cleaning and Maintenance Advice

Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning. Avoid lacquer thinners, caustic soaps, or abrasive cleaners.
