7. Routine Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning
Regular cleaning of your VIA Freeze™ freezer will help to reduce the chance of sample
contamination within the cold chamber and maintain its performance.
7.1.1 Cleaning products
The VIA Freeze range can be cleaned using any of a range of fluids including the
following:
Mild detergents
Isopropanol (IPA)
Ethanol
Mild bleach
Warm water
Specialist clean room products from STERIShave also been tested and approved for
use cleaning VIA Freeze™ products. These are:
Environ™ Vesphene™ st - diluted 1:128
Environ™ LpH™ st - diluted 1:125
Spor-Klenz™ RTU
Do not use acetone to clean the system since this can damage the paintwork.
Some stronger cleaners may also damage the paint and other surfaces of the freezer. If
a product is not on the above lists then contact your supplier to see if it is safe to use.
7.1.2 Cleaning protocol
1 Before cleaning, ensure that a heating cycle has been completed and then switch
off the freezer.
2 Unplug the power lead and any other cables or wires from the back of the freezer.
