Driving settings
Introduction
Audi drive select makes it possible to experi-
ence diffe rent types of vehicle sett ings in one
vehicle. The dr iver can select th ree
Comfort,
Auto
and Dynamic modes in the MMI to
switch between a sporty and a comforta ble
driving mode.
You can also adjust t he setti ng according t o
your pref erences in the
individual mode. For
examp le, you can combine settings such as a
sporty engine t uning with comfortab le steer-
ing.
A WARNING
Improper use of the Audi drive select can
cause collisions, ot her accidents and seri-
ous personal injury.
Description
The vehicle setup in each mode depends on
the vehicle's featu res. The engine, t ransm is-
sion, steering, reversible saf ety belt t ension-
ers and adapt ive air suspension are always in-
volved.
Engine and transmission
Depending on the mode, the engine and the
tra nsmission respond quic ker or in a more bal-
anced manne r to accelerator pedal move-
ments . I n the sporty dynami c mode, the
tra nsmission shift s at highe r RPMs.
Air suspension
The adaptive air suspension/adaptive air sus-
pension spor t *
(Air suspension in the MMI) is
an elect ronic ally contr oll ed air suspensio n and
dampi ng syst em. They are adjust ed depend-
ing on t he selected driving mode, the drive r's
steering, braking and acceleration input and
the road surface, vehicle speed and load. A
sporty setting is generally used in vehicles
with adaptive air suspension sport*.
The vehicle clearance varies depending on the
selected mode and the speed.
The highw ay setting is act ivated automatically
whe n you dr ive above 75 mph (120 km/ h) f or
more than
30 seconds in t he auto or dynamic
mode. The ground clearance is increased auto -
matically if the speed drops below 44 mph
(70 km/h) for more than 120 seconds.
Steering
The st eering adapt s in t erms of st eering effor t
and steering ratios . I ndirect steering that
moves easily, like the steer ing in comfo rt
mode, is best suited to long drives on a high-
way. In contrast, dynamic mode provides
sporty, direct steer ing .
The following applies to vehicles with dynamic
stee ring* : the steer ing rat io changes based on
vehicle speed in order to ma inta in optimum
steering effort for the drive r at all times. This
sets the stee ring to be less sensitive at higher
speeds in order to provide improved vehicl e
control. At reduced speeds, however, steer ing
is mo re dir ect in order to keep t he steering ef-
f ort as minima l as possible when t he drive r is
mane uveri ng the vehicle. At low and average
speeds, dynamic steering addit ionally pro-
vides more responsive steering performance .
Sport differential*
As a compone nt of the all whee l dr ive system
(quat tr o)
r:!> page 204, t he Sport diff erent ial*
distr ibutes t he driving power t o t he rear axle
depending on the sit uat ion. The distrib ution
of power varies depending on the selected
mode, from balanced (comfort) to agile (dy-
nam ic). The goal is a high level of agility and
ability to accelerate on curves. The vehicle is
very responsive to stee ring .
Curve light*
The curve light adapts to driving on curves.
The pivoting act ion and the lighting are also
adapted to the mode.
Adaptive cruise control*
The behavior when accelerat ing can be adjust-
ed from comforta ble to sporty, depending on ..,.
