Wheels with wheel bolt caps
Applies to vehicles: with whee l bolts wit h caps
The caps must be removed first from the
wheel bolts before the bolts con be un-
screwed .

Removing
• Push the pl astic clip (provided with the vehi-
cle tool kit)
over the whee l bolt cap unt il the
inner retainers on the clip align with the
edge of the cover.
• Remove the cap with the
plasti c clip (vehicle
tool kit)

Refittin g
• Place the caps ove r the wheel bo lts and
push them back on.
The caps are to protect and keep the wheel
bo lts clean .
Loosening and tightening the wheel
bolts
The wheel bolts must be loosened before rais-
ing the vehicle.

Loosening
• Slide the wh eel w rench onto the wheel bolt
as far as it will go.
• Take tight hold of the end of the wrench
handle and turn the wheel bolts

Tight ening
• Slide t he wheel wrench onto the wheel bo lt
as far as it will go.
• Take tight hold of the
end of the wrench
handle and turn each wheel bolt
clockwise
until it is seated .
A WARNING
-
- Do not use force or hurry when changing
a wheel - you can cause the vehicle to slip
off the jack and cause serio us pe rsonal
inju ries.
- Do not loosen the wheel bo lts more than
one turn
before you raise the vehicle with
the jack . - You risk a n inju ry.
© Tips
- Never use the hexagona l socket in the
hand le of the screwdr iver to loose n or
tighten the whee l bolts.
- If a wheel bo lt is very tight, you may find
it eas ier to loosen by carefu lly pushing
dow n on the end of the wheel bolt
