- The washer fluid nozzles of the wind-
shield washer system are heated at low
temperatures when the ignition is on.
- When stopping temporarily, e.g. at a
traffic light, the set speed of the wind-
shield wipers is automatically reduced by
one speed.
Cleaning windshield wiper blades
Clean the w indshield wiper blades when they
begin to leave streaks .
.. Place the windshield wiper arms in the serv-
ice position . Refer to ¢
page 54.
.. Use a soft cloth and glass cleaner to clean
the windsh ield wiper blades.
A WARNING
Dirty windshie ld w iper blades can impa ir
your view. This can lead to accidents.

You can also turn the service position on or off

MMI:
.. Switch the windshie ld wipers off (position
@ ¢ page 53, fig. 48) .
.. Select: !CARI function button > Car systems
contro l button > Servicing & checks > Wiper
service position
> On.
Removing th e wiper blade
.. Lift the windshield wiper arm up from the
windshie ld.
.. Press the locking knob
(D ¢ fig. 49 on the
w iper blade. Hold the wiper blade firmly.
.. Remove the wiper blade in the direction of
the arrow .
Att aching the w iper blade
.. Insta ll the new wiper blade in the retainer
on the wiper arm @ unti l you hear it click in-
to place on the w iper arm .
.. Place the wiper arm back on the windshield .
.. Turn the service position off .

- The windsh ield wiper blades m ust only
be folded away when in the service posi-
tion! Otherwise, you risk damaging t he
paint on the hood or the windshie ld w ip-
er motor.
- You should not move your vehicle or
press the windsh ield wiper lever when
the wiper arms are folded away from the
windshield. The windshield wipers wou ld
move back into their or iginal position
and could damage the hood and wind-
shield.
- To help prevent damage to the w iper sys-
tem, always loosen blades wh ich are fro-
zen to the windshield before operating
w ipers.
- To help prevent damage to wiper blades,
do not use gasoli ne, kerosene, paint
thinne r, or other solvents on or near the
w iper blades.
