Media drives and
connections
Introduction
There are various media drives and connections
available in the MMI. For example, you can play
aud io/video* files through the Jukebox, or you
can connect a portable device to the Audi music
inte rface* and ope rate it throug h the MMI.
Notes
General information
Media and format restrictions:
the MMI (includ-
ing the SD card reader and the USB storage de-
vice connect ion*) was tested with a variety of
products and media on the market. However,
there may be cases where individual devices or
media and aud io/video files* may not be recog-
nized, may play only wit h rest rictions, or may not
play at all.
The MMI media drives do not suppo rt Windows
Media Audio 9 Voice, Windows Media Audio 9
Loss less and Windows Media
9 Professional for-
mats .
Digital Rights Management : please note that
the audio/v ideo* files are subject to copyright
protection.
The med ia drives do not play files that are pro-
tected by DRM and that are ident ified with the
symbo l

Data security : Never store important data on the
memory cards, the Jukebox, CDs/DVDs or porta-
ble aud io devices . Audi is not responsib le for
damaged or lost files and med ia.
Loading times : the more files/fo lders/playlists
that are on a storage medium, the longer it will
take to load the aud io/v ideo* files . Audi recom-
mends using storage med ia that only conta in au-
dio/video files*. To decrease the ti me it takes to
load audio/v ideo files*, create subfo lders (for ex-
ample, for the artist or album). The loading time
will also increase when importing files .
Additional information : when playing, audio
files are automatica lly displayed with any addi-

t iona l information t hat is stored (such as t he ar-
tist, track and album cover). If this information is
not availab le on t he storage medium, the MMI
will check Gracenote . However, in some cases,
the addit ional information may not be displayed .

CD/DVD operation
CD/ DVD and format restriction s: the functiona li-
ty of individual storage media may be limited due
to the variety of blank CDs/DVDs availab le and
the various capacities. Audio CDs or video DVDs
with copy protection, CDs/DVDs that do not con-
form to the standard and mult i sess ion CDs may
have limited playback or may not play at all. Audi
recommends finaliz ing the recording process
whe n creat ing mult isess ion CDs. Multisess ion is
not supported for DVDs.
Handling CDs/ DVDs and the DVD drive : to en-
su re good, high-quality sound reproduction and
to prevent damage to the drive or disc read ing er-
rors, always st ore CDs/DVDs in a protective
sleeve and do not expose t hem to direct sunlight .
Do
not use:
- Damaged, dirty or scratched CDs/DVDs
- Single CDs/DVDs (3 inch/8 cm diame t er)
- CD/DVDs tha t are not round
- CDs/DVDs with labe ls
- Protective rings
- Cleaning CDs
