On-Board Diagnostics moni t ors the components
of your emission control system . Each monitored
component in your eng ine system has bee n as-
signed a code . In case of a ma lfunction, the com-
ponent w ill be identified and the fa ult stored as a
code in t he control module memo ry.
The MIL light may also illuminate if there is a
leak in the on-board fuel vapor recovery system .
If t he light illuminates aft er a ref uel ing, stop t he
vehicle a nd ma ke sure the fue l filler cap is prop -
erly closed

In order to make an accurate d iagnosis, the stor-
ed data can on ly be disp layed using specia l diag-
nos t ic eq uipment (gene ric scan t oo l for OBD).
In order to connect t he specia l diagnostic equip-
ment , push the plug into the Data Link Connector
(DLC). The DLC is located t o t he right of t he hood
release

Your author ized Audi dealer or a qualified service
st at ion can interpret the code and perform the
necessa ry repa ir.
A WARNING
Do not use t he diagno stic con nector for pe r-
sonal use . Incorrect usag e ca n cause ma lfu nc-
tions, which can increase the risk of a colli-
sion !
Electronic speed limiter

Your veh icle may be factory equipped with ti res
that are rated for a maxim um speed of 130 mph
(210 km/h) . This is less than the maximum speed
of your vehicle . To reduce t he risk of sudden tire

failure and loss of contro l if t he vehicle is operat -
ed at excessive speeds, your vehicle also has an
electronic speed limite r. The elect ronic speed
limiter prevents your vehicle from go ing faster
th a n the tire speed rat ing . For more information
