Taking the wheel off/installing the spare
Follow these instructions step-by-step for chang-
ing the wheel .

Afte r you have loosened all wheel bo lts and
raised t he vehi cle off the ground, remove and re-
place the whee l as fo llows:
Removing the wheel
Use t he hexagonal socket in the screwdriver
handle
t o comple t ely remove t he topmost
whee l bolt and set it aside on a
clean surfa ce

Screw the th readed end of the
alignment pin
from the tool kit hand-tight into the empty bolt
hole¢

Then remove the other whee l bolts as desc ribed
above.
Takeoff t he wheel leav ing the alignm ent pin in
the bolt hole ¢ 0 .
l ) Applies to vehicles with ceram ic brake rotors*: Use a sec-
ond alignment pin* (stored in the spa re whee l well mo ld-
ing) for the lower hole, following t he descr iption for th e
first alignment pin.

Putting on the spare wheel
Lift the sp are whee l and caref ully slide it over
t he alignment pin t o guide it in place ¢ (D .
Use the hexagonal socket in the screwdr iver
ha nd le to screw in and tighten all wheel bolts
slightly.
Remove the alignment pin and insert and t ight-
en the remaining wheel bo lt slight ly like the
rest.
Turn the jack hand le counte r-clockwise to lowe r
t he vehicle unt il t he jac k is fully re leased.
Use the wheel bolt wren ch to tighten a ll wheel
bolts firm l
page 315. Tighten t hem cross-
wise,
from one bolt to the (app roximately) op-
posite one, to keep the whee l centered.
([» Note
When remov ing or insta lling the wheel, the
rim could hit the brake rotor/ce ramic brake
rotor * and damage t he rotor . Work carefully
and have a second person he lp you.
(D Tips
Neve r use the he xagonal socket in the han dle
of the sc rewd river to loosen or t ighten the
whee l bolts.
- Pull the reversible blade from the screwdr iv-
er before you use t he hexagona l soc ket in
t he handle to t urn the whee l bolts.
- When mounti ng tires with
unidirectional
tread design
make sure the tread pattern is
pointed the right way¢
page 319.
- The wheel bolts sho uld be clean and easy to
t urn. Check for dirt and corrosion on the
mating surfaces of both the wheel and t he
hub. Remove all dirt from these s urfaces be-
fore remounti ng the whee l.
