Clean the headlights. The headlight washer sys-
tem operates only when the low beam headlights
are switched on. If you move the lever to position
@, the headlights and the night vision assist
camera* are cleaned at intervals .
A WARNING
- The rain sensor is only intended to assist the
dr iver. The driver may still be responsible
for manually switching the w ipers on based
on visibility conditions.
- The w indshie ld may not be treated with wa-
ter-repell ing windsh ield coating agents . Un-
favorable conditions, such as wetness, dark-
ness, and whe n the sun is low, can cause in-
creased glare, which increases t he risk of an
accident . W iper blade chatter is also possi-
ble.

- If t here is frost, make sure t he windsh ield
wiper blades are not frozen to the wind -
shield. Switching on the windshield wipers
when the blades are frozen to the wind-
shield can damage the wiper blades.
- Prior to using a car wash, the windshield
wiper system must be switched off (lever in
position @ ). This prevents the wipers from
switching on unintent ionally and causing
damage to the w indshie ld w iper system .
(D Tips
- The windshield wipe rs switch off when the
ignition is switched off. You can activate the
winds hield wipers after the ignit ion is
switched back on by moving the winds hield
wiper lever to any posit ion.
- Worn or dirty w indshield wiper blades result
in streak ing. This can affec t the rain sensor
f unct ion . Check your windsh ield wipe r
blades regularly.
Light s and Vis ion
- The washer fluid nozzles for the windshield
washer system are heated at low tempera-
tures when the ign ition is on .
- When stopping temporari ly, such as at a
traffic light, the speed of the windshield
w ipers automatica lly reduces by one level.
Cleaning the wiper blades
Clean the wiper blades when you see w iper
streaks. Clean the wiper blades with a soft towel
and glass cleaner .
