- Safety belts that have been worn and
loaded in an accident must be replaced
with t he correct rep lacement safety be lt
by an authorized Audi dealer or qualified
workshop. Replacement may be necessa-
ry even if damage cannot be clearly seen.
Anchorages t hat were loaded mus t a lso
be inspec t ed.
- Never remove, mod ify, disassemble, or
tr y t o repair t he safety be lts your self.
- Always keep the belts clean . Dirty belts
may not wo rk properly and can impa ir

To provide maximum protection, safety belts
must always be pos it ioned correctly on the
wearer's body .

Automat ic safety belt retractors
Every safety bel t is equipped with an a utomat-
ic be lt ret ractor on t he shou lde r belt . This fea -
tu re locks the belt when the be lt is pulled out
fast, during hard brak ing and in an accident .
The belt may also lock when you drive up or
down a steep hill or t hrough a sharp curve.
During normal driving the be lt lets you move
freely .
Safety belt preten sioners
The safety belts on the front seats are equip-
ped with a belt pretensioner that helps to
t ighten the safety belt and remove s lack whe n
t he pretensioner is activated . The funct ion of
the pretensioner is monito red by a war ning
light

Switchable locking feature
Every safe ty belt except the one on the d river
seat is equipped with a switchable locking fea-
ture that
must be used when the safety be lt is
used to attach a child seat . Be sure t o read the
important information about this feature

- Never attach the safety be lt to the buck-
le for another seat. Attac hing the belt to
the wrong buckle will reduce safety be lt
effectiveness and can cause serious per-
sonal injury .
- A passenger who is not properly restrain-
ed can be seriously injur ed by the safety
be lt itself when it moves from the st ron-
ger parts of the body into critical areas
like the abdomen .
- Always lock the convertible locking re-
tracto r whe n you are sec uring a child
seat in the ve hicle ¢
